BREAKING: Army Secretary Dan Driscoll RESIGNS as Hegseth’s Pentagon purge leaves Army leadership in chaos.
With Army Secretary Dan Driscoll just submitting his resignation to Donald Trump, the Army now finds itself without a single Senate-confirmed civilian or military leader at the top. This is what happens when Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon treats competence and independence as threats to be eliminated.
Driscoll’s departure comes after months of documented friction with Hegseth, following the earlier ouster of Army Chief of Staff General Randy George — a general Hegseth fired reportedly, in part, for refusing to quietly kill an investigation into an unauthorized helicopter flyby of Kid Rock’s estate. Driscoll and George had worked closely together, pushing the Army toward modernized technology and battlefield adaptability. Hegseth removed George. Now Driscoll is gone too.
This is all part of a much larger purge. Just last week, Driscoll attended the forced retirement ceremony for General Chris Donahue, the respected officer who led Delta Force against ISIS, whose military career was effectively ended when Hegseth downgraded his position as part of a broader push to slash the number of generals and admirals by 10%. Lawmakers from both parties raised alarms over losing an officer of Donahue’s caliber.
And the chaos doesn’t stop with Driscoll, Donahue, and George. Dave Fitzgerald, the deputy undersecretary who worked alongside Driscoll pushing private companies to invest billions in military infrastructure — data centers, critical mineral refineries, modernized logistics — is also expected to step down this week.
Meanwhile, General Chris LaNeve, Hegseth’s preferred pick to permanently lead the Army, faces serious resistance in the Senate. Some Republicans have signaled he might not even get confirmed, especially given his controversial decision to phase out a next-generation Army assault battalion, a move that’s fueled even more concern about where Hegseth is steering the service.
The White House’s statement praised Driscoll for “restoring an emphasis on readiness and lethality” — conveniently ignoring the fact that the experienced secretary is leaving precisely because Hegseth couldn’t tolerate a civilian leader who valued competent, independent military judgment over blind loyalty.
Six months into a war in Iran that shows no signs of ending, with American sailors reportedly facing hunger and mental health crises, the U.S. Army is now leaderless at the top — not because of enemy action, but because Pete Hegseth keeps firing anyone who won’t simply salute and comply.
Vladimir Putin must be extremely happy that he’s been able to undermine the strength of the US military just by helping Trump get elected.
If our nation wants to restore our military and repudiate the damaging right-wing “warrior ethos” that the current Secretary of Defense is trying to establish as the prevailing mode of operation, let’s sincerely hope that the next armed forces ouster we hear of is that of Hegseth himself.

Democratic Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has introduced articles of impeachment for the Secretary of War Crimes, Pete Hegseth, a move that cannot happen quickly enough.
In addition to being a credibly accused sexual predator and prodigious alcoholic, it is clear that Pete Hegseth is also a really sick bastard, ideologically hell-bent on killing as many “bad guys” (i.e., Muslims, brown people, etc.) as possible. The man has absolutely no regard for human life.
Innocent fishermen in the Caribbean, murdered by Hegseth’s missiles. Schoolgirls in Iran, massacred by Hegseth’s missiles. Children and elders in Somalia, blown apart by Pete Hegseth’s missiles. The death toll from his bloodthirsty warmongering is catatstrophic.
Every one of Hegseth’s press conferences features him boasting about how many people the United States military is going to kill, how the “woke” rules of engagement are a thing of the past, and how the military is now “unleashed,” the results of which have been horrific.

“Pete Hegseth broke his oath to the Constitution, put U.S. troops at grave risk through the unauthorized disclosure of classified information, engaged in abuse of office and conduct beneath the dignity of his office, and carried out unlawful military actions despite his obligation to refuse—including strikes on civilians and a girls’ school in Minab, Iran.”
“Hegseth’s conduct meets the threshold of high crimes and misdemeanors and warrants immediate removal by Congress,” said Rep. Ansari. “As the daughter of Iranian immigrants and as someone who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, I know this absolutely cannot continue. The stakes for U.S. servicemembers and our national security, the Iranian people and innocent civilians everywhere, and global stability are too high to ignore.”
She’s absolutely right. This psychotic monster needs to be removed from office ASAP.
